Calling All Fans! Support NFL Player and Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award Nominee, Torrey Smith

Each year, the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recognizes an NFL player for his excellence on and off the field. This year, former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, friend of the Royal Farms Arena and forever fan of Baltimore, Torrey Smith, is nominated for this prestigious honor.

The winner of the top prize will be announced in Houston at NFL Honors, a primetime awards special airing nationally on February 4, the night before Super Bowl LI, at 8 p.m. on FOX. However, football fans, you can still have your say –make a difference NOW and help the San Francisco 49er and lover of Charm City claim an extra $25,000 prize in the second Walter Payton Man of the Year Charity Challenge!

ABOUT THE CHARITY CHALLENGE:

To encourage fan support of the 32 Man of the Year nominees, Nationwide is executing the second Walter Payton Man of the Year Charity Challenge, which awards one nominee with an additional $25,000 donation to his charity of choice.

Fans, here’s how you can cast your vote!

  • Between now and January 8th, post on any social media platform mentioning your favorite nominee’s unique challenge hashtag
  • The nominee who receives the most hashtag mentions will win an additional $25,000 donation to his charity of choice
  • As Torrey Smith will always call Baltimore home, help recognize his excellence on and off the field by posting on social media using his one-of-a-kind hashtag #TSMITHWPMOYCHALLENGE.

ABOUT THE WALTER PAYTON NFL MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD:

Each team in the National Football League nominates one player who has had a significant positive impact on his community. The winner receives $1 million donated in his name, with $500,000 going to a charity of his choice and $500,000 supporting the expansion of the Character Playbook across all NFL Markets. Two finalists receive a total of $250,000, also split between their charity of choice and donated in their name to expand the Character Playbook, while the remainder of the finalists receive a total of $100,000 donation split in the same manner.
